The Executive Director of Victim Support Fund (VSF), Prof. Sunday Ochoche, today said that the Federal Government would be spending N700 million on the reconstruction of public institutions in Benue State.
Ochoche said the idea initiated by the federal government through the Presidential Committee on Victim Support Fund was aimed at rebuilding those government institutions destroyed by farmers/herders conflicts in parts of the state.
The executive director who spoke in Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma Local Government Area during the flag-off of the reconstruction of the public infrastructure, explained that the committee would be carrying out the project in three LGAs of Guma, Logo and Agatu.
"The funds are for the reconstruction and provision of 31 buildings and Hygiene facilities in the three local government areas," he explained. "The buildings to be reconstructed include five comprehensive health centres, 23 blocks of classrooms, and three ventilated improved pit toilets."
On his part, the deputy governor of the state, Engr Benson Abounu, who represented the governor at the occasion appealed to the committee not to only build the clinics but to also equip them while the state government would provide drugs.
