Some federal government ministries, department and agencies as well as security agencies has called for the assistance of the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) in discouraging the distribution of adulterated petroleum products.
NOGASA is Nigeria’s premiere organization of suppliers, stakeholders and practitioners in the nation’s oil and gas sector distribution service chain.
The request for the support was made at the NOGASA Re-Inauguration Ceremony in Abuja on Thursday which saw the emergence of Mr. Benneth Korie and Alhaji Abdullahi Idris as pioneer president and vice president of the association for the next five-years.
Speaking specifically on the need to curb sourcing of petroleum products from vandalized pipelines, the Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu who was represented by Assistant Commandant, General Operations Aminu Abdullahi Kofarsoro saidIllegal dealing in petroleum product, bunkering, vandalisation and oil theft were critical issues the government was seeking partnership with the association.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NOGASA president said that the association which was registered and inaugurated in 2008 as Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (OGASON) was now being re-launched as NOGASA and as a platform that will give Oil and Gas Suppliers nationwide a true sense of belonging.
The new president in his acceptance speech said he would do his best to ensure members have a smooth interface between member suppliers and end users of its products.
“Let me use this opportunity to advise those patronizing illegal loading points to desist from doing so, because it’s no longer necessary. It is harmful for the reputation of the business…besides, the frequent damages caused by adulterated products are costly to end users,” he said.
