FG pledges commitment to technical, vocational education

The Federal Government has restated its commitment and support to the nation’s polytechnics in the area of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as that would play key role in the attainment of economic empowerment for the country.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu who stated this at the weekend during the 24th combined convocation ceremony of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State, noted that education remains the bedrock of any nation.

The minister, represented by Dr Elizabeth Adedigba, said the government would continue to invest in tertiary education through intervention projects by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

Chairman, Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Dr Ibrahim Liman Siwafa, said the council was committed to providing the enabling environment for the management to deliver on its mandate.

The rector of the polytechnic, Dr David Danjuma Baba, said the institution had recorded tremendous growth in terms of academic and infrastructural development.
