President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr David Danjuma Baba as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State.
A statement issued by the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Job Ekele, said the appointment which takes effect from December 27, 2017, is for a period of four years in the first instance and renewable for a second term of four years.
Dr Baba was in his second tenure as deputy rector of the polytechnic when he took over as acting Rector on December 22, 2017 from Mr Matthew Itokpa Akpata, whose second tenure as Rector expired in December 2017.
The Rector, who was born on July 14, 1967, hails from Efakwu-Egume in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He joined the services of the polytechnic in 1992 as Lecturer III from where he rose through the ranks to his present position.
Dr Baba, while reacting to his appointment, commended the Governing Council of the polytechnic for upholding merit above mediocrity in its choice of appointment, pledging that his administration would give attention to the academic and infrastructural development of the polytechnic.
