The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the FCT have proposed that Alhaji Jafaru Gwagwa be picked as running mate to the chairmanship candidate, Mrs. Vivian Anazodo, for the 2019 council poll in the area.
Gwagwa came second to Anazodo in the primaries for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
A PDP stakeholder, Bala Iya, who disclosed this to our reporter via telephone, yesterday, said the decision to pick Jafaru as running mate to the party’s chairmanship candidate came up during the stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday in Abuja.
He said before the chairmanship primary, Jafaru was the preferred candidate of both the House of Representatives candidate, Micah Jiba and Senator Philip Aduda, until he lost to Mrs. Anazodo at the primary.
He said all the four chairmanship aspirants had unambiguously agreed that Gwagwa, who came second at the primary, should be made running mate to the chairmanship candidate.
“But the chairmanship candidate, Mrs. Vivian Anazodo, at the meeting rejected the proposal. The meeting was not concluded, yesterday, and all the party’s stakeholders will be meeting today (Tuesday) again to come up with a final resolution,” he added.
