James Okeigbo, whose wife gave birth to quintuplets weekend at the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja after 18 years of marriage, has appealed for assistance from government and members of the public for adequate care for the babies.
His wife was delivered of three boys and two girls after a successful procedure of In-Vitro Fertilization.
The 47-year-old man, from Abia State, commended his wife’s steadfastness and understanding throughout their trying period.
Speaking at the FMC Lokoja where the wife delivered, Okeigbo said the waiting period was not easy.
”I thank my wife for retaining her respect for me for this 18 years of childlessness without quarrelling with me. I am also grateful to her family for standing by us,” Okeigbo said.
He described the coming of the babies as the happiest moment of his life.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, has visited the FMC to offer some financial supports to the family.
The matron of the hospital, Louis Adeosun who took the speaker’s entourage round the ward, said it was an act of God and the diligent way of handling patients in the hospital.
