A Chief Magistrate Court in Kaduna has ordered that a 32-year-old farmer be remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping the 10-year-old daughter of his neighbour.
Isah Ibrahim, a resident of Rafin Guza area of the state capital, is facing a one-count charge of defilement.
When the case came up yesterday, the magistrate, Lukman Sidi, refused to take the defendant’s plea and ordered the police to duplicate the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, had earlier told the court that one Adamu Shehu, of the same address with the defendant, reported the matter at Gabasawa Police Division on October 10.
He added that, “On the same day at 4pm, the defendant deceived and lured the complainant’s 10-year-old daughter into an uncompleted building at Rafin Guza.
“The defendant assaulted the girl indecently by forcefully rubbing his manhood on her vagina, which caused her harm and contravened Section 209 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.”
Magistrate Sidi however adjourned the matter until November, 27 for mention.
