FADAMA III builds 48.9km farm access roads in Kano

The Fadama III Additional Financing project has revealed that, 48.9 kilometres of farm access roads have been constructed under the project in Kano State to promote easy movement of produce to market to improve farmers’ income.

This was disclosed by the state deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, while declaring open a three-day workshop on the 10th joint World Bank and Federal Government of Nigeria mission to Kano Fadama III projects organised by the projects for the team leaders from the 19 northern states of the federation.

Gawuna, who is also the state commissioner of Agriculture, emphasised the government’s willingness in partaking in projects that would develop agriculture in the state as well as promote agricultural practitioners’ economic standard.

He added that the revival of Fadama activities in the state has been one of the positive achievements so far recorded in the agricultural sector in the state.

Similarly, the Task Team Leader (TTL), Fadama III Additional Financing (AF), Dr Adetunji Oredipe, stated that Kano State, with the highest number of crops’ value chain in the project, has achieved a good record in project execution.

“We most commend Kano State government on its positive co-operation in the project’s execution in the state. The state has three crops we were working on which is the highest number in the nation. It has shown great commitment and without the state government’s cooperation, the projects wouldn’t have achieved what it has achieved,” he said.
