Enyimba will enter the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup at the Round of 32 after being given a bye for the Preliminary Round in Wednesday’s draw.
The People’s Elephant joins an elite group of clubs, including powerhouses like five-time African champions Zamalek and three-time winners Raja Casablanca, who were also granted exemptions based on their CAF Club ranking points.
This privilege was granted ostensibly as an acknowledgement of Enyimba’s consistency and track record of excellence on the continent. It will be recalled that the two-time African Champion is the only Nigerian clubside to progress to the final eight of the CAF Champions League in the last five years, having done so in 2016.
Enyimba will face the winner of the preliminary tie between Guinea club Hafia and the representative of Benin Republic in the Round of 32, with the winner then advancing to the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage.
