Enugu Airport to close 3pm daily as FAAN begins runway repairs

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) yesterday commenced the repair work on the damaged runway of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.  

The agency has therefore notified air travellers and the general public about the palliative repair work” ahead of the expected influx of passengers as the yuletide festivities approach. 

General Manager, Corporate Affairs of  FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu in a statement explained that the first phase of the repair work will commence today to 21st December 2017 while the second phase will be from the 27th December 2017, to 4th January, 2018.   

Mrs. Yakubu said despite the repair work, there would be skeletal operations at the airport as the runway will open for operations from 7: 00 am to 3 pm local time on the proposed dates.  

“This is to enable the contractor have ample day-light working hours in order to obtain stable and even runway surface, while also completing the work within the stipulated time frame”, she added.
