Emirates will upgrade the Abuja route’s operating aircraft to a Boeing 777-300ER from the 777-300 classic, with effect from 15th September 2018.
With this development, the EK785 and 786 will be on the Dubai-Abuja-Dubai routes four times in a week.
The B777-300ER is a three class cabin with 310 seats in Economy Class, 42 seats in Business Class and eight seats in First Class.
Economy Class will feature specially designed and contoured seats in a 3-4-3 configuration with 2-4-2 configuration in the last rows with generous space for passengers and Business Class offers comfortable sleeperette seats which recline to a 78” long lie flat bed.
First Class features the world’s first private suites with privacy screens, massage-enabled leather seats which convert to flat beds including luxurious comfort covers, down pillows and cotton-lined blankets.
With the development, all operating aircraft to Nigeria will now be B777-300ER (Extended range).
The Regional Manager West Africa, Afzal Parambil who briefed newsmen in Lagos on the planned upgrade said it shows the commitment of the airline to the Nigerian market.
According to him, the airline is determined to consolidate its Nigerian market having recorded significant growth in 2017.
The airline from 2004 when it started flying to Nigeria has airlifted over 4.3million passengers with 1,000 passengers being airlifted on a daily basis to Dubai and other routes.
The manager said the airline carries a lot of cargos, adding, “Cargo is a significant contribution to our revenue from Nigeria”.
He also hinted of plan to have partnership with Nigerian carriers to connect their passengers from all parts of the country.
“The upgrade of our Abuja service to a Boeing 777-300ER demonstrates our commitment to the Nigeria market and is another step to ensure we offer world class products and services to our customers. Since its launch in 2014, Emirates boosted international tourism and trade in Abuja from a raft of destinations in the Far East, West Asia, Middle East, Europe and North America.”
