Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai yesterday presented a draft budget of N155.8 billion for 2019 to the State House of Assembly.
In the budget tagged “2019 budget of continuity,” N62.339bn was voted for recurrent expenditure; and N93.526bn, for capital.
El-Rufai had budgeted N216.65billion for year 2018, representing 28% reduction for year 2019.
He pledged to complete all the projects he started in each of the 23 local government areas.
According to him, the 2019-2021 multi-year budget is hinged on the 2016 zero-based budget principle and is tailored towards actualizing the State Development Plan 2016-2020.
Assessing the performance of the 2018 budget, he said his government was able to promote equality of opportunity to give ordinary people and their children a fair chance in life.
Speaker Aminu Shagali said the house was proud of the direction the state government was taking, assuring of expeditious passage of the appropriation bill.
