El-Amin Int’l School celebrates Nigeria’s centenary

The play acted from a book authored by Sanni Mohammed Ellakkawi by the pupils and students becomes imperative in celebrating 100 years of the country, said the school’s director, Hajiya Jummai Sambo.
“The book is written out of passion therefore giving us something historical and we are celebrating long before the centenary because when we come back in January others would have celebrated,” she said while explaining the motive behind the celebration before the Nigeria’s centenary.
The school’s Head Teacher, Mr. Oladunjoye Olayiwola said the vital information contained in the book about the amalgamation of the country informed the decision to dramatise the book.
He added that it will also inspired the younger generations about the lessons of amalgamation which he said included seeing strength in the nation’s diversity.
The author of the book, Sanni Mohammed Ellakkawi said he was elated to seeing pupils and students acting from the book.
He described it as dream come true while he enjoined pupils and students not to read the book as any other novel but have a rethink, “We are about to celebrate our 100 anniversary and it is time for us to have a rethink. It is too late for us to say we’ll disintegrate.”
Parents and guardians including the Chairman of TETFUND, Alhaji Dr. Musa Babayo attended the event, which featured Christmas carol and other cultural presentations by the pupils and students of the school.
