The delegation which was led to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ashraf Salama, said they are in the country to advise and clarify misunderstanding of Islam by some group of persons.
He said they delegation were with the Imam of National Mosque and there will be conference on what Islam said about peaceful co-existence.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali said that Nigeria needed such an interface and a better understanding for some misguided elements causing violence in the name of Islam.
“We need this type of conference in Nigeria to explain to some misguided elements who misinterpreted Islam especially the terrorists thereby using it to kill and maim innocent lives,” Wali explained.
He, however, explained that “it is abnormal for anybody to misinterpreted and go against the peace teaching of Islam. No basis for fighting each other on religious basis because both Islam and Christianity are from the same source.”
