The Edo State Internal Revenue (EIRS) yesterday sealed off the African Independent Television (AIT)/Radio Power and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in the state over alleged tax evasion.
Daily Trust learnt that the AIT is indebted to EIRS to the tune of about N8 million while FRCN owes about N10 million.
It was gathered that AIT/Ray power had paid N4 million out of the N8 million debt it owed the tax body last week.
Conversely, it was alleged that the state government was owing AIT/Ray Power about N85 million debt for services rendered to it during the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.
The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) is on the other hand said to be owed about N12.5 million for services also rendered.
The spokesperson of the EIRS, Courage Oboigbe, confirmed the development, but said he was not aware of the state government’s indebtedness to the two stations.
