Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of four police officers in Afuze divisional office in Owan East local government of Edo state.
The State Commissioner of Police, DanMallam Abubakar Muhammed, stated this Friday while parading 102 suspected criminals allegedly involved in various crimes in the state.
” We have arrested 13 suspects so far in the killing on police officers at Afuze division. We have not parade them yet because there are other suspects in connection with the killing that we are still searching for and we have to arrest them,” he said.
He added, “We don’t want to parade the arrested suspects now and in the process jeopardise the arrest of the flee suspects,”.
” 81 suspects were arrested for cultism, 25 arrested for armed robbery, eight for kidnapping, three for murder while one suspect each were arrested for rape and abortion,” he said.
He added that “what I met on ground when I took over as the state police commissioner, in terms of cultism and other crimes was unpalatable.We have been raiding cultism hide out leading to the arrest of hundreds of them,”.
DanMallam explained that the police is making efforts to trace the sponsors of cultists in the state and that whoever that is found to be involved would not be spared no matter how highly place the person is.
He assured that the suspects would be charged to Court as soon as in investigation is completed.
