The Edo State government has banned the state chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).
Governor Godwin Obaseki who gave the order yesterday, said the ban became necessary to ensure the protection of lives and property and prevent possible breakdown of law and order.
The governor urged the public to desist from relating or transacting business with the group until further information is provided by the state government.
He said his administration was committed to sanitising the road transport sector and would not tolerate actions that could undermine the smooth implementation of the transport master plan.
While assuring the citizenry that security agencies would be available to maintain peace and order, he urged them to go about their businesses without any fear of molestation. He ordered association to close their offices across the state.
