Driver, aide nabbed for allegedly stealing Dangote Oil

A truck driver and his assistant have been taken to court for allegedly stealing many litres of oil belonging to the Dangote Group.
The driver, 29-year-old Salisu Hassan, and his assistant, Dahiru Mohammed, also 29, were said to have been nabbed at the gate of the
Dangote Refinery, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, on October 3, 2018.
The duo were dragged before an Igbosere, Lagos, chief magistrate court on two counts of stealing the oil worth N130,000.
The police prosecutor, Friday Memmen, alleged that the duo conspired together to commit the offence.
The two accused persons pleaded not guilty to the two charges. They told the court that the management of Dangote Oil Refinery always gave 50-litre of oil to a driver and his motor boy each time they were engaged in official duties, adding that they then bought additional 50 litres on their way from a trip at Ikorodu on the day of the incident.
While adjourning the case till 25 October, 2018 for trial, Magistrate M.O. Osinbajo admitted the duo to a bail of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.
