The event is designed to help the children identify with their roots and appreciate the diversities among peoples of their country.
Among those who attended the event were wife of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Aisha Mohammed; Permanent Secretary, FCT Administration, Mr John Chukwu and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the FCT Minister on Administration, Chief Emmanuel Ikemefuna.
The SSA to the FCT Minister, Ikemefuna stressed the importance of teaching children the diverse cultures of Nigeria, saying majority of the problems in the country stem from warped understanding of the differences among the people of the country.
“If we teach our children the diversity of our cultures, we’ll solve our problems… We should encourage our children to understand their roots,” Ikemefuna advised.
The children wore attires reflecting the geo-political zones of the country they hail from including North, South-east, South-west and South-south.
They were joined by both their teachers and parents in their dances.
Highlights of the event were recitation of poems and exhibition of several economic resources in the country.
