Governor Aminu Bello Masari has advised the Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to differentiate between politics and security.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aminu Masari on Media and Publicity, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi said it was “callous for the PDP in Katsina State to play politics with the issue of security especially as it involved life and property of citizens.”
Malumfashi was reacting to the comment of the state PDP chairman, Salisu Majigiri, who asked Masari to resign over a statement he made that Katsina State was under siege over activities of bandits.
Malumfashi said Governor Masari raised the alarm about the state of insecurity because he was mindful of the need to do all what it took to safeguard the lives of the people unlike what allegedly obtained during PDP days.
According to him, Majigiri’s call was the height of insensitivity and duplicity.
“Majigiri as Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor of the State, Barrister Ibrahim Shema, did not see the need or find the courage to advise his principal to resign when 142 people were massacred in cold blood one morning in May 2014 between the axis of Faskari and Sabuwa local government areas,” he said.
Malumfashi said to show his commitment to peace, it was Masari who initiated the formation of the Forum of North West Governors to collectively tackle insecurity in their states, adding that to this date, he was the only one who remained the most faithful to the cause.
