Dialogue has been advocated as the remedy to the increasing cases of divorce and civil litigations among Muslim couples.
An Islamic Scholar Ustaz Nuruddeen Lemu made the appeal at a two-day third 1Ummah Peace and Unity Convention organized in Abuja, that, “Youths should be taught that marriage is not an easy task, but a gradual change of two people and later managing a large family in changing moods and it should be taken with great caution for it to last. Young couples should know that marriage is not an illusion or fantasy, but a reality. The remedy towards having a lasting marriage is for couples to pray, work and dialogue to avoid having broken homes.”
In his speech, an international Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ebrahim Bham said, “People must seek for knowledge before they indulge in any affair especially marriage, as being married is one thing and fulfilling its obligations is another. Most marriages collapse because one of the partners thinks of himself and not of themselves.”
Another International scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Salah said, “I call on the followers of all religions to avoid hurting their fellow followers and those of other religions. It is wrong for Western and local media to call an armed follower of any of the three religions a Muslim, Christian and Judaism Terrorist, the person should only be called a terrorist without ascribing his religion. But the western World doesn’t call their bad elements terrorist for subjective and not objective reasons.
