A governorship aspirant from Ebonyi State, Prof. Ifeanyichukwu Benard Odo, has observed that the adoption of indirect primaries otherwise known as delegates system puts Nigeria in a mess.
Prof Odo, who spoke yesterday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja after purchasing his expression of interest and nomination forms, said the delegates system had been abused by money-bag politicians who had been in the corridors of power for several years.
He hailed the National Executive Committee (NEC) for endorsing direct primaries that allowed all card carrying members of the party to participate in the process of electing candidates for the 2019 general elections. He said the direct mode of election would save the party in Ebonyi State from having parallel delegates after the emergence of separate executives at the recent congresses.
