Death of poly student: Police redeploy DPO

Police sources revealed that the DPO was moved out of the division to enable the police hierarchy carry out a thorough investigation of  the case.
“Because of  the way the boy was labelled an armed robber, our bosses are not happy. So, they have redeployed him to a new division,” the source claimed,    pleading anonymity.
The spokesperson of Kano police command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed the redeployment of DPO,  but said it was routine transfer.
Meanwhile, the newly transferred Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 1, Kano, Tambari Yabo has met with all parties involved in the case.
Yabo said he met with parties to have first hand information on the matter.
 Our correspondent gathered that Hassan died on October 26th, days after he was released from police custody.
Late Hassan’s family is alleging that their son died at Almu Memorial Hospital following an internal injury he sustained on his head as a result of police torture.
Weekly Trust gathered   that the controversy trailing the death of the student took a new dimension when his father, Malam Abdullahi Alfa was arrested and asked to produce the boy. He was only released following pressure from civil rights organization in the state.
