The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has tasked 145 graduating Assistant Superintendent of Prison and Inspectors to ensure they play the relevant roles that result in the complete rehabilitation and de-radicalisation of inmates in the country.
Speaking at the Passing out Parade of the 26th Assistant Superintendent of Prison Basic Course of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) at the Prison Staff College in Kaduna on Friday, the minister emphasized that the Prison Service is an important and integral part in the criminal justice system in every society.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Mohammed Bello, the minister noted that, if used appropriately, the prison service is expected to play a crucial role in upholding the rule of law by helping to ensure that alleged offenders are brought to justice for serious wrongdoings.
