The Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah who disclosed this in Abuja said the Federal Government has the Service huge support last year in terms of more patrol vehicles and equipment for improved operations this year.
"We are prepared to do more of what we did last year and we look forward to breaking the record of 2017 in 2018 by God grace," Attah said.
The Daily Trust reports that the Service raked in N1.037 trillion at the end of 2017 surpassing a target of N770.5 billion which was about 23.9 per cent higher.
The anti smuggling activities led to 4,492 assorted seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N 12.78bn. They include 2,671 pump action riffles, dangerous drugs, vehicles and rice among. The spokesman added that 207 suspects were arrested in connection with these seizures.
Attah said some national dailies in a recent briefing in Lagos insinuated some sort of friction between Customs and the National Assembly in 2017, saying there was no basis for such.
He said: "For avoidance of doubt, we want to say that the relationship between the NCS and the National Assembly is cordial, there is no problem and we have no reason to blame the respected body for what is generally accepted as a very good performance in 2017."
