Policemen of the Operation Absolute Sanity have arrested eight people, including a cripple, over alleged involvement in the killing of a member of Civilian JTF in Kaduna.
The police identified the cripple as Kamilu Mohammed and the leader of the gang as Umaru Ibrahim Mujuma.
Other gang members were identified as Jibrin Adamu, Samaila Haruna, Ibrahim Mohammed, Ibrahim Idris, Iliya Adamu, Ifeanyi Linus, and Silas Kelvin, who were said to be receivers of all stolen items.
The suspects are said to have long specialized in terrorizing citizens along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Moshood Jimoh, said that their arrest was sequel to the directive from the Inspector General of Police ordering the team to fish out those behind the killing of the civilian JTF leader Haruna in his farm at Sabon Gayan Village in Kaduna State last Sunday which resulted into a protest by villagers that caused traffic gridlock.
The arrested suspects were paraded in Kaduna yesterday by the police which listed exhibits recovered from them to include one AK 47 rifle, three locally made guns, one live cartridge and one Toyota Corolla blue colour and one Toyota Corolla ýcar.
Addressing newsmen while parading the suspects, Force PRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood said all the suspects arrested confessed to the crime and admitted to the various roles they played in the commission of the offences.
