Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has explained that criminal elements are disguising and killing people in various parts of the country in order to paint the Fulani tribe black.
He stated this while speaking on the purported clashes between criminals alleged to be Fulani herdsmen and their host communities in some parts of the country.
He said that the Fulani are not responsible for the spate of killings being attributed to them in some parts of the country.
” Fulani are not new they are not guests in Nigeria, they are well known as one of the respected tribes, if they are killers they could have started killings hundreds of years back not now. The killers disguised and hide with the intention to paint a particular tribe black.
"Fulani are known to have sticks and bow and arrow but you are saying the killers have gun. Who give Fulani herdsmen Gun? It’s the responsibilities of a government to fish out the culprits and punish them.
“if any one committed a crime such person should be identified as a criminal and made him to face the full wrath of the law , Fulani lived with people across the World they live peacefully, why should they take up arms against the people they are living together with hundreds years ago?, “he queried.
Sheik Bauchi said that it si the responsibility of every government to protect lives and properties of all its citizens and ensure human dignity.
According to him, it is the responsibility of the citizenry to respect and listen to the constituted authorities and cooperate with them by being law abiding to ensure sustainable peace in the country.
The Islamic scholar said the spate of killings going on in some parts of the country should not be given religious colouration because the killers and their perpetrators aim at causing confusion.
“We have two dominant religion in Nigeria, Islam and Christianity, they both didn’t allow anyone to shed the blood of anybody to kill him, to take away his properties or burn the entire properties and such dastardly act is not permissible in any religion,” he added.
He charge Nigerians to avoid being used by politicians to cause trouble for pecuniary political ends adding that people should assess the performance of their elected leaders.
