COVID-19: Security personnel deployed ahead of Jumma’at prayers

Personnel of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in their numbers on Thursday evening were deployed within the city of Jos ahead of tomorrow’s Jumma’at prayers.

The security personnel comprising the military, Police, Civil Defence and other security officers arrived Yantaya Junction, close to Juma’at Mosque of  Izalatil Bid’a waikamatis Sunnah, chasing traders who flouted government directive to close their shops and vacate the area.

It was observed that a special task force was also part of the operation.

Our correspondent reports that the security operatives arrived the area in five military operational vehicles telling people with microphone amplifier that there would not be Jumma’at prayers on Friday and Church services on Sunday.

A strong security source who sought for anonymity said the deployment is in preparation to enlighten Muslim faithful who might contravene the government’s directive.
