Fourteen suspects have been remanded in prison by a Magistrate’s Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, over firearms and killing of Raji Ayobami and Musa Debo.
The suspects are Abdulraheem Raji, Yinisa Ahem, Aminat Moses, Fatimoh Elewure, Kingsley Nbamo, Kolo Williams, Temitope Ogbo, Nasiru Jimoh, Olateju Aliyu, Sesan Adeleke, Ahmed Babatunde, Yusuf Salimon, Abdulfatai Mahmud and Abdulfatai Jimoh.
It was gathered that the case was transferred from the special anti-robbery squad and ‘C’ Division to the criminal investigation and intelligence unit, Ilorin. On April 25, information reached SARS that some hoodlums at Idi-Ape area, Ilorin, attacked one Anafi Mohammed Olatunji with dangerous weapons, an action that led to the death of two persons while Mohammed Olatunji escaped.
It was also learnt that the hoodlums proceeded to Mohammed’s family house and set it ablaze.
The prosecution said, “Investigation conducted at the department revealed that the suspects conspired and attacked Mohammed, but two other people died while he escaped. They also set his house ablaze, which led to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira. Two local single-barrel guns, two knives and some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects.
The suspects were arraigned over illegal possession of firearms, disturbance of public peace and culpable homicide, offences that contravened sections 97, 149 and 221 of penal code law. Magistrate M. A. Ndakene ordered that they be remanded at the Federal Prison, Yard Oke-Kura, Ilorin and adjourned the case.
