Plateau State Commissioner for Housing, Barrister Zulfa Bitrus Rimven, has called on citizens of the state to give maximum support to their elected lawmakers to get better representation from them.

Speaking with newsmen shortly  after  the ministry’s budget defense at the state assembly complex in Jos, the state capital, Rimven described members of the 9th Plateau State House of Assembly led by Speaker Nuhu Ayuba Abok as lawmakers with capacity and quality.

He said the charismatic and vibrant nature with which the members handled the affairs of the 9th assembly was a clear indication that they were true representatives of the people, pointing out that with the caliber of leaders in position, the state will surely rise again.

The commissioner also called on the lawmakers to ensure continuous quality legislation for the betterment and progress of the state in general and their constituencies in particular.

He hailed Governor Simon Lalong for his quality leadership and unique fight against corruption, saying that it was yielding the desired results as the state was recently rated  as the second least corrupt state in the country.

“I congratulate our Governor, Simon Lalong,  for declaring zero tolerance for corruption since assuming office such that the state was among the first in Nigeria to adopt the Treasury Single Account (TSA), where he  makes sure all monies accruing to Plateau State go to a single account for easy oversight and monitoring.

“Lalong  also established the Efficiency Unit that is saddled with the duty of checking all proposals and requests to ensure that they are in line with the vision of the government and offer value for the people. Again, the governor put in place the Bureau for Public Procurement which has the mandate of vetting all procurements to ensure that there is no wasteful and exaggerated cost.

“The governor also set up the Project Monitoring and Result Delivery Unit (PMRDU) domiciled in the Office of the Chief of Staff with clear mandate to ensure diligent tracking of Projects and Programmes implementation by all the MDAs. By and large, the governor  is doing excellently well and I call on the people of the state to continue to support him and the lawmakers at all times,” he added.
