China-Africa ties, world’s most meaningful partnership – Ramaphosa

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed China-Africa cooperation as the most meaningful partnership in the world.

He said the ties between China and Africa has achieved fruitful results for both parties because it was based on win-win cooperation.

Ramaphosa stated this on Tuesday in China at a joint press briefing with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Macky Sall of Senegal at the end of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The summit is the third of its kind since FOCAC was set up 18 years ago.

“We have realised that FOCAC is the most meaningful partnership in the world today because it is based on win-win cooperation and not one side wins, the other loses,” he said.

He said the success of the 2018 FOCAC summit has opened a new chapter in the China-Africa relations and that Beijing’s $60 billion funding support for Africa gives credence to the mutual relations between both parties.

He said the $60 billion financing offered during the 2015 FOCAC summit in Johannesburg, South Africa had been allocated and a number of projects across the continent had been completed and some ongoing.

Ramaphosa however said despite the success of FOCAC in advancing China-Africa ties, the African leaders agreed that much is needed to be done to achieve prosperity.
