Chelsea are preparing a £65m bid for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in Italy.
The defender has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all credited with an interest in signing him in the past.
However, the link to Stamford Bridge has persisted above all others and after Koulibaly’s heroics against Juventus on Sunday, it was claimed that the Blues are after him once more, according to Naples paper Il Mattino.
The 26-year-old Senegalese ace stole the headlines with a thumping header to keep the Serie A title race firmly alive, as a 90th minute header moved Napoli to within just one point of the defending champions.
It’s set to be another summer of change for Chelsea, with Antonio Conte widely expected to leave the club, and it remains to be seen if Koulibaly would be keen to quit the high-flying Italian side for a team who are outside of the Champions League next season.
However, if a £65m bid is placed on the table, Napoli may find it tough to turn down.
