A statement signed by Alhaji Muhammad Aminu Bello, Walin Katsina, on behalf of the centre, said, “we will partner with Islamic organisations within and outside the country to source for moral and financial support, we would also join hands with them to organise workshops, seminars, conferences, da’awah and public sensitization programmes in Katsina and outside the state.”
MBIC which was established in 2007, is now being used as a centre for both Islamic and Western education. It was conceived by their mother, Hajiya Zainab Muhtar Bello, and named after her late husband to “contribute towards the educational development of the state and even the neighbouring states,” the statement said.
On the preparedness of the centre for the programmes, the Walin Katsina said: “The first phase of MBIC has been completed. We are now in the second phase which includes construction of an administrative office complex and a 2-storey block of 14 classrooms. We are equipping the centre with laboratories, modern learning facilities, apparatus and computers to make it conducive for learning.
“We are putting in place teaching aids to motivate the teachers and instructors towards commitment and dedication. We envisage a situation whereby our students will always get admission into Katstina State Islamic University and other higher institutions.”
Alhaji Muhammad Aminu Bello also said that the “school will in-sha Allah have a research and documentation unit, a digital library and electronic bookshop,” adding that “officials of the Federal Ministry of Education have paid a visit to the centre.
“Our aim is to have a leading Islamic centre that will have a good impact on the community. We will organise Islamic vocational training for children, youth and adults. We also have a special fund for the needy.”
On almajiri education, he called for “concerted effort to change to a more realistic and better system at the grassroots”, stressing that “our school and the centre will help in changing the Almajiri system through a special fund for the less privileged children.
“I want to advise the privileged Nigerians to ensure that they live to their expectations by contributing towards education and human development.”
