The Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID), a private sector initiative, has set up a fully equipped 100-bed capacity isolation centre in Damaturu.
The facility was jointly funded by First Bank and Access Bank in partnership with Dangote group.
Equipment at the facility included three BIPAP respiratory/CPAP machines, one blood warmer, one centrifuge refrigerator, one defilbrator (AED), 50 drip stands, 100 endo-tracheal tubes, 5000 disposable face masks and 3000 non-disposable masks.
Speaking at the handing ceremony, the Business Manager, First Bank Plc, Mr Marcus Dibel, said the fight against COVID-19 should not be left to the states alone.
He said donation was in line with the organisations’ corporate social responsibility to complement government’s effort at curtailing the coronavirus pandemic.
In his remarks, the Yobe State Deputy Governor, who is also the Chairman, Committee for Prevention of COVID-19, said the donation came at the right time.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana, the chairman commended CACOVID for committing huge resources to support the government in the treatment of its patients.
