The Cross River State governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Eyo Ekpo, has promised to end most of the long-drawn communal clashes in the state.
Ekpo, who spoke at the palace of the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Eteng, when he called on him, said he would use everything within his power to entrench peace amongst the diverse people of the state.
The candidate said he was very familiar with the causes of communal crises in the state, having dealt with some of them when he was attorney-general in the Donald Duke administration.
He said the causes of the recent crises in the state were rooted in the long absence of elected local government council. Ekpo said the local government administration and the traditional institution were the closest links between the state government and the people that had now been neglected.
