Worried by the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease, Kwara State businessman, Alhaji Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has set up a 30 million naira health fund to support the fight against the disease and other infections in the state.
Five major hospitals in the state were selected for implementation of the health scheme’s first phase with N1 million mobilisation funds and they include General Hospital Ilorin, Sobi Specialist Hospital, Unilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara Civil Service Hospital and Centre Igboro Children Specialist Hospital, Ilorin.
Addressing journalists during his tour of some health facilities in Kwara State, Waziri Gobir said he established the N30 million health fund to assist those who might not be able to afford their medical bills.
He lauded efforts of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) over its proactive approach in curtailing the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The Gobir Foundation has been actively involved in assisting Kwara State residents with various social investment programmes such as enterprise development, interest-free loans, education support, job creation, and youth empowerment gestures.
