President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to intervene in the issues that led to the deadlocked meeting between the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and governors a fortnight ago.
The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, disclosed this to State House reporters yesterday after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari and the governors of Zamfara, Jigawa and Kebbi states, Abdulaziz Yari, Abubakar Badaru and Atiku Bagudu respectively.
The three governors had earlier held a two-hour closed-door meeting with President Buhari.
Adeosun had, after a meeting of the National Economic Council last week, expressed fears that salaries in states might be affected unless issues that led to the deadlock between the FAAC and governors were resolved.
She had also said the costs presented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) could not be justified and that the NEC demanded explanations from the corporation for unclear costs it made from FAAC.
The minister said yesterday that President Buhari had promised to take the next step on the issue.
