President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday in Sokoto, assured that he will remain focused and will not betray the trust given to him by Nigerians if they reelect him.
Commercial activities were paralysed in Sokoto for the presidential campaign rally of the ruling APC.
Daily Trust observed some of the supporters jumping over the wire fence of Giginya Stadium in Sokoto which barricaded them from where the podium was sited despite resistance from the combined security agents.
The president was received at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the APC Presidential Campaign Coordinator in charge of the North-west, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, among other chieftains of the party in the state.
Overwhelmed by the mammoth crowd, Buhari reassured Nigerians that he would not relent in fighting corruption in the country.
In his remarks, the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said the people of Sokoto and Nigerians had spoken as everywhere you go was APC.
Sen. Bola Tinubu on his part said the ship of the country was moving in the right direction under President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that other candidates were afraid of his overwhelming support across the divide.
Commenting, Senator Wamakko said Sokoto was for APC, adding that “we will not let the opposition win even a single position in the next elections.”
