Buhari deserves award over school feeding programme – Monarch

The newly crowned paramount ruler of the Efuts Kingdom in Calabar South of Cross River State, Itam Hogan, says President Muhammadu Buhari deserves a national award for introducing the home-grown feeding programme.

The monarch affirmed that the programmed had increased school enrolment across the country.

He spoke in his palace yesterday while receiving a team of the National Home-grown School Feeding Programme led by its national coordinator, Mrs. Bimbola Adesanmi.

He urged critics of the programme to desist from making comments that would make the Federal Government to scrap it.

The monarch said: “To those criticizing the programme, I say ‘bullshit’ and congratulated those who sat with the president to conceive the idea of launching the home-grown school feeding programme.

“I get angry and sad each time I see kids of school age resort to hawking jst to raise cash for their parents because their parents have no money to feed them and sponsor them to school.  I don’t think there has been anything better than this programme in the last 40years. Sometimes, it pains some of us when we see children in farms instead of being in school during school hours.”
