The camp of Nigeria’s representatives in this year’s CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars of Makurdi has been hit by serious crisis as they prepare to face Asec Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire this evening in Abidjan.

Our source who is on ground has informed this reporter that Lobi Stars have brought unnecessary pressure on themselves by breaching the rules and regulations of the Confederation of African Football for the Champions League.

He revealed that for inexplicable reasons, Lobi Stars travelled to Abidjan with the wrong jersey which CAF has since rejected.

The source said Lobi Stars have now contracted a former player of the club to to help them sew new jerseys for the team.

Furthermore, he said Lobi Stars didn’t take with them CAF badges to attach to the new jerseys so they are going to be fined 5000 US dollars.

Our source added that apart from the brouhaha over jersey, Lobi Stars yesterday reported late for training in unapproved training kits and would be fined another five thousand USA dollars.

As if that was not enough, he said the Technical Adviser of the team, Solomon Ogbeide physically assaulted one of the longest serving officials of Lobi Stars who disagreed with him on the issue of jersey.

“I was in the camp of Lobi Stars yesterday and can inform you that all is not well with the team.

“Would you believe Lobi Stars came to Abidjan with a wrong jersey which CAF promptly rejected?. They didn’t come with the jersey that they had submitted to CAF.

“They have asked a Nigerian resident in Abidjan to get a tailor to sew jerseys for them.

“The next problem is that they have no CAF badges to attach to the new jerseys and that will attract a fine of five thousand USA dollars.

“To make it worse the team appeared shabbily dressed for training which they attended late. CAF frowns at such breaches and Lobi will be fined five thousand US dollars,” said our source.

He also said the camp of Lobi Stars is enveloped in the fear of ‘juju’ as the team is suspecting every action of their hosts who even offered to help them with badges to attach to their newly sewn jerseys.

Lobi Stars are aiming at their second win in group A after a convincing 2-1 victory over former champions, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in Enugu.
