Borno state government has launched a capacity training centre to cater to 500 people in post-insurgency measures.
Borno governor Kashim Shettima said the centre, built by Northeast Regional Initiatives (NERI) at Farm Centre, Maiduguri, was an example.
In comments presented by his head of service, Yerima Saleh, Shettima said the state government was willing to partner with donor agencies to solve hardships internally displaced people face.
"The issues of Post Insurgency has to be addressed squarely pertaining not only to Internally Displaced Persons IDPs but should be extended to host community who are willing to such training.
"I want to call on donor agencies to see interventions now in practical aspects, training even returnees need interventions, insurgency measures including livelihoods and training like this will definitely make vital for recovery.
Coordinator of the project, Suleiman Dauda said the project is to support Borno in recovering after the insurgency.
"Also, this will go along way if they are equipped to break the influence of insurgents to lure them, if they are idle,” said Dauda.
“It is may be easy for insurgents to deceives them so when the returnees are going back with farming skills, farming inputs and basic knowledge I think it will solve the problems of recycling hardship and violence as they reruns to various community. What we are doing is to equipping returnees with sustainable tools.
