Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum met 20,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who returned to a camp located within Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA) of the state as a result of the relative peace.
Our correspondent gathered that the governor, after meeting the Pulka town IDP returnees, proceeded to other villages whose residents were forced out to a neighbouring country by Boko Haram insurgents.
At Kirawa, a border community where he went to assess infrastructures destroyed by the insurgents, thousands of people who had been hitherto taking refuge in Cameroon Republic, crossed back home on sighting the governor’s convoy.
Governor Zulum said that his government was looking at the possibility of returning people to Ngoshe, Warabe, Ashgashiya and Hambagda, all in Gwoza LGA. “We are here purposely to examine the security architecture of this very important town, Kirawa,” he said.
