The Bank of Industry (BoI) has powered a total of 1,200 households and many rural businesses with solar energy solution.
Speaking at the 2017 Africa Today Summit held in Abuja, yesterday, the Managing Director of BoI, Mr. Olukayode Pitan, said the bank’s deployment of the solar power solution has boosted the operation of various small and medium businesses in the country.
The Access to Renewable Energy (AtRE) project is financed by the BoI in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Last year, BoI signed a $2 million (N880m) pact with the UNDP for the implementation of the second phase of the solar power electrification projects.
Represented by the former Acting Chief Executive of the bank, Mr. Waheed Olagunju, Pitan said the six renewable energy projects which are located in Gombe, Anambra, Niger, Osun, Kaduna, and Edo states, have all been commissioned.
The CEO of ME Consulting, Mr. Victor Eromosele, described the BoI solar electrification projects as excellent.
