The second term bid of Bayelsa State Governor Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson got a major boost, yesterday, from former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking at the formal declaration by Governor Dickson to run for a second term in office at Sampson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Jonathan said that Dickson was the best person for now to govern the state.
He said the governor’s strides in infrastructural development, regular payment of salaries to workers, security and low debt profile stood him out as one of the best governors in the country.
He lamented what he described as “the pull-him-down syndrome” in the state, urging other persons aspiring to govern the state to allow Dickson to complete his second term.
“We are totally committed to deliver Dickson. The election is beyond Dickson, it is mainly to reposition ourselves as Ijaw people. Dickson will never betray our interest.”
In his speech, Dickson debunked the claims made by the APC that PDP was dead in the state, saying that with the 105 councillors, 8 local government chairmen, 3 senators, 5 House of Representatives members and 21 out of the 23 House of Assembly seats as PDP members, the party was in control in the state.
