Bauchi orphanage donates to women, orphans

A Bauchi based orphanage and rehabilitation center, Malam Kawu Youth Rehabilitation and Orphanage Center has donated clothes and other assorted items to women and orphans in Dass local government area of the state.

The donation was part of an outreach by the center to‎ women and other orphans outside the center.

The center donated wrappers, flasks and some cash to each of the10 women who delivered at Dass General Hospital.‎

Thirty children on admission at children ward of the hospital were also presented ‎with gifts by the center. 

Speaking to Kano Chronicle, one of the beneficiaries, Altine Abdullahi commended the centre for the gesture.

Madam Altine, who delivered twins but latter lost one of them, said the donation would help in addressing some of her challenges.‎

Another beneficiary, Mrs Iliya Kwaburshi, who was recuperating from a caesarean operation, also expressed gratitude to the centre for the donation.

Speaking, the proprietor of the center, Malam Abdullahi Muhammad Tahir said that the center decided to expand the gesture to orphans in communities outside Bauchi.

“This donation is part of fulfillment of our promise to reach out to orphans and women in Dass and Kagadama communities. I will continue to assist orphans, women and other vulnerable children outside the center irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds,” he said.

He urged youths to avoid indulging in drugs and other‎ intoxicants in order to live a good life and be useful to the society.

In her remarks, the Head Nurse of the hospital, Mrs Hannatu Atiku commended  the centre and described the donation as timely.

At Kagadama, a community outside Dass, 160 orphans including Christian faithful benefitted from the gesture. 57 ‎orphans received sets of clothes, eye glasses and other gifts to celebrate Christmas.

Thirty five (35) pupils of Islamiyya and Tsangaya schools also received school bags, exercise books, writing materials, uniforms and other items. ‎

The Ward Head of Kagadama (Sarkin Hausawan Dass, Alhaji Sabi’u Mua’zu said the donation would further deepen unity among Muslims and Christians faithfuls living in the‎ community.
