‘Bauchi govt committed to paying ex-councilors’ allowances’

Permanent secretary of the state ministry of justice, Barrister MU’azu Abubakar, his counterpart in the ministry for local government, Barrister Hudu Yunusa, and the counsel to the 323 ex- councilors, Barrister Victor Dalbadal stated this yesterday in Bauchi while reacting to a story over the incident.
They said the state did not abdicate its responsibility as it has settled two third of the amount to the former councilors in the last ten months while the balance would be settled soon.
Barrrister Dalbadal confirmed the develop-ment on behalf of the councilors saying, “The state government intervened, we had a useful discussion with them and in fact they are paying the allowances, they have paid two third of the amount. We went to court because of the delay in paying the last installments but government is trying and we are settling the matter out of court.”
Barrister Abubakar said the counsel of the state government  did not go to the Industrial court in Jos because they have agreed to settle the matter out of court.
Barrister Hudu assured that the third installments will be paid to them very soon and advised them to be patient and to cooperate with the government in order to achieve that.
