Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar says his administration is not engaged in any last-minute award of contract.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Sade, who said this yesterday, was reacting to an allegation by the incoming administration of the People’s Democratic Party.
The commissioner said though no fresh contracts had been awarded recently, there were ongoing multi-million naira roads and other projects across the state.
Dr Ladan Salihu, the spokesperson of the governor-elect, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, had at a press conference, alleged that the incumbent administration planned to award multi-million naira contracts through the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) in order to leave a huge financial burden for the incoming administration.
BASUBEB spokesman, Mohammed Shehu Abdullahi, also dismissed the allegations of last-minute award of contact by through the board.
He said the N4 billion contract to be awarded was a 2017/2018 UBEC/SUBEB joint intervention project.
