Bandits’ attack: Masari calls for vigilance

Masari visits victims of farmers-herders clash, urges security consciousness

Katsina State Governor Aminu  Masari yesterday  paid a condolence visit to  Kasai village in Batsari local government over the weekend’s bandits’ attack.

The governor stressed the need for vigilance and information sharing from the locals.

Daily Trust reports that the weekend’s attack led to the death of six civilians and an army captain.

Masari, who was accompanied by the state commissioner of police,  Sule Buba and the Brigadier General of 17 brigade of the Nigerian Army,  Brigadier General Luqman; said monitoring activities of those collaborating with the bandits was necessary.

He said people should be prayerful and be ready to report informants to law enforcement agencies for proper maintenance of law and order in the state.

Earlier, the chairman of the transition committee of Batsari local government, Mannir Rumah, had told the governor that the bandits, numbering over 100, attacked the village and killed the captain before burning down their operational Hilux vehicle.

“ They later entered the village visiting  the houses of the six civilians separately thereby killing them, the bandits made away with several animals, motorcycles and other valuables” he said.
