The Chairman, Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has donated N2million worth of food stuffs and other items to victims of the Tabanni killings, Rabah Local Government of Sokoto State, describing the incident as extremely condemnable by all right thinking individuals.
Speaking when he visited the Internally Displaced Persons camp at Gandi, he lamented: ‘The colossal loss of lives and property perpetrated by the devilish killers were regrettable.”
He added ”The dastardly killings of the innocent deceased persons as unfortunate, unjust and wanton.”
“This sad development and obnoxious trend was never heard of in the State,” Senator Wamakko who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District stated.
He urged for fervent prayers for divine intervention and prevention of recurrence of the killings, adding that efforts would be intensified to further secure the lives and property of Nigerians, as well as uphold the sanctity of human lives.
The lawmaker commended Sokoto government, the state Zakkat and Endowment Commission, the District Head of Gandi and other agencies, for their efforts to provide the welfare and security needs of the victims at the camp.
The District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi, expressed appreciation to Senator Wamakko for his support to the welfare of the displaced persons.
In a remark, Chairman of the Committee set up by the state government on the IDPs, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Gusau assured that adequate measures had been taken towards the welfare of victims.
Meanwhile Senator Wamakko presented to the victims, cash and relief materials which included 1,000 bags of 10kgs of rice, 500 wrappers, 100 cartons of toilet soap and ointment.
