A former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris on Wednesday described the presidential candidacy of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a sign of sign of hope for Nigerians.
The former governor popularly called Ibro, in a statement personally signed, congratulated the former Vice President for the fit he recorded at the recent PDP national convention in Port Harcourt, River state.
While describing the convention as the most credible and transparent ever, Idris said the choice of Alhaji Atiku as the party presidential flag bearer by the delegates was noble.
According to him, Alhaji Atiku is also the most prepared candidate that would turn the fortune of the country around from bad to good.
“Alhaji Atiku I know, is very much experienced and articulate in governance. This is a man ready to transform this country with his wealth of experience.”
“Let me also use this medium to congratulate the entire Nigerians and the PDP for making a wise choice in Alhaji Abubakar Atiku”, he said.
The former governor equally saluted the maturity and patriotism of other presidential aspirants, whom he said displayed spirit of sportsmanship during and after the convention.
Alhaji Idris urged party members including delegates, particularly from Kogi state, who must have had their preferred aspirants at the convention to come together and work towards the victory of the party come next year presidential election.
“Every delegate must have his or her preferred aspirant during the convention, however only one aspirant must emerge as the party candidate. It is now time to put all our interest in one basket toward actualising the victory of PDP come next year presidential election and other elections,” Idris added.
He therefore assured Nigerians that the victory of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku next year will change the county’s narration for the better.
